John Fuller – Veggie Delight
Through the hardships of last year, Cancer Support Angels’ mission remained the same. Continuation of help to fulfil the wishes of cancer patients. In late June of 2020, John Fuller was receiving treatment for his bowel cancer at home in Cranbourne. He hoped to have his veggie garden up and growing before Spring. It was a joy of John’s to tend to his garden, so a veggie patch would only add to his hobby during his recovery.
The team at Cancer Support Angels were eager to help John achieve this small but meaningful dream of his. With some research into local garden products and companies, they were able to source donations from the great Paul Cootes and the staff at Cootes Quarry Products who gave life to Johns veggie patch with a few metres of soil.
Not only was he able to get a start on the veggie patch, John was also offered seedlings and starter packs from Cameron Knight at Mac Cladding to put in the soil, we thank him for also contributing to the CSA mission.
Within a couple of days of fantastic teamwork, the veggie garden was good to go. John could spend time tending to his new space heading into the warmer months.
If last year’s feeling was anything but pleasant, we can surely look back at generosities like these, where our charity strived to give light to the cancer community.
Cancer Support Angels would not be able to make a difference without our amazing donations from our sponsors and public. A gift or project that can make a smile appear on a patient, means that the day-to-day can be that little bit cheerier.
